Automotive Maintenance Specialist
Program Description

Automotive Services is a two year program that provides a basis for A.S.E. certification.  Students will be instructed in the following areas: lubricating system,cooling system, exhaust system, brakes, electrical systems, engine performance, suspension and steering. Students will also become proficient in the areas of shop management, shop safety and leadership.

Field experience is an integral part of the program through school-to-work placement experiences.
Hands-On Experience
Automotive Service students get extended learning in the laboratory by participating in the Customer Service Program. Students work on cars from the public during class hours, thus practicing the people skills of customer service along with the mechanic skills in automotive repair.
Career Opportunities
Automotive Service Mechanics are hired by automobile dealerships and independant repair shops.  Job titles include: 
  • Auto Parts Salesperson
  • Brake and Front-End Technician
  • General Repair Technician  
  • Service Advisor
  • Service Manager
  • Technical Instructor
  • Technical Sales Representative
  • Tune-up Technician
The industry is expected to grow from 10 - 20% with average salary rates between $9.77 and $15.68 per hour in the Columbus region.
