Program Description
Mr. James Ruble, Instructor

The Drafting & Design/CAD program provides skills and activities to prepare students for entry level positions in the engineering fields.  This program works closely with local industry to keep abreast of current trends and needs, to supply the community with qualified entry level employees for positions that come available.
Program Highlights
The Drafting & Design/CAD program provides skills in drawing techniques, including sketching, lettering, three view drawing, auxiliary views, orthographic projection and isometric drawings.  Use of graphs and charts, and applications of related math and science are included.  The program prepares students to design, prepare and interpret layout and assembly drawings for manufacturing and construction.  Drawings will be produced on a drawing board as well as with high-tech, computer aided drafting (CAD) systems.  We use the most updated software available (Auto CAD 2005, currently).
Career Opportunities
Graduates find employment with mechanical, architectural, structural, civl & survey, electrical and design firms. Students also have the opportunity to participate in an articulation agreement with Columbus State Community College (If they meet all requirements - requirements are available in the guidance department and will be reviewed with students the first week of school).  Most of the students in this program go on tofurthe their education.  Some students attend full time college programs while others choose to work full time and attend night school.
