This course will provide a comprehensive classroom and clinical education in phlebotomy. Participants will learn the techniques, skills, and equipment used for the purposes of safe and effective blood collection. The students will be expected to demonstrate the ability to obtain patients’ blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection techniques.
This course includes instruction in anatomy & physiology and medical terminology, along with phlebotomy training. Following successful completion of all course requirements, students will be able to sit for the National Phlebotomy Technician exam offered through the National Center for Competency Testing for an additional fee of approximately $90.00.
Requirements: Students must have a Hepatitis B immunization and two-step Mantoux (TB) screening prior to beginning the class.
