Tolles RAMTEC is offering a new

Industrial Maintenance Certificate Program

This program is created to help individuals gain the skills for the growing number of  open positions for Manufacturing and Automation Maintenance Technicians.

This program will prepare students for entry-level maintenance positions in both manufacturing and large commercial facilities. The Tolles Industrial Maintenance Certificate will be awarded after completion of 350 hours of course work with Tolles RAMTEC.

Students will need to complete one Robotics  class, One Programmable Logic Controls class, Parker Hydraulics and Pneumatics, and the nine basic skills classes.

  • FANUC Handling Tool Operations & Programming Training : Students will learn the skills that industry demands from FANUC certified instructors using a FANUC approved curriculum on FANUC equipment. Trainees will learn basic operations, programming, and troubleshooting. Students completing this course will be able to power-up and jog the robot, teach frames, recover from robot faults, as well as execute, create and modify programs. The course consists of lectures, chapter reviews, and hands-on lab time.
    • Hours: 40 hours at RAMTEC
    • Hurry Next class fulling up January 8th through 12th, 9:00 – 5:00 pm 
  • Yaskawa Motoman Robotics Training: Trainees will learn basic operations, programming, and troubleshooting. Students completing this course will be able to power-up and jog the robot, teach frames, recover from robot faults, as well as execute, create and modify programs. The course consists of lectures and hands-on lab time.
    • Total Hours: 40 at RAMTEC
  • Allen Bradley Basic PLCs: This course introduces the concepts of Programmable Logic Controllers and Programmable Automation Controllers via a combination of wiring, programming, and troubleshooting exercises. These topics will expose the student to the various ways that inputs and outputs are handled within the Controller, how to navigate the logic, and how to locate each of these components within a project. When finished with this course, the student will have the knowledge necessary to connect to an existing controller, navigate the logic, and troubleshoot both digital and analog I/O.

  • Mitsubishi Basic PLC Course: In this course the student will learn basics of the Programmable Logic Controller using the Mitsubishi FX series PLC to understand what it does and how it works. Students will cover system hardware, numbering systems, inputs, outputs, configuration, the GX Works2 Software, connecting to the PLC, and basic ladder programming functions. Students will be hands-on using the computer to communicate and experience first hand the operation of the PLC. Students will hardwire actual Inputs and Outputs to the PLC. This course is intended for Technicians to gain knowledge and hands on experience with the Mitsubishi GX Works2 software and FX series PLC in order to maintain and troubleshoot PLC systems.

  • Parker Hydraulics & Pneumatics Training: This training is meant for the maintenance technician that needs hands-on exposure to hydraulics pneumatic system found in the modern manufacturing facility. Student hands-on labs are meant to expose the students to various problems and design consideration in the hydraulic systems through frequent hands-on labs. The training will cover industrial afety, hydraulic system basics, basics of fluid power, hydraulic prints and schematics, hydraulic accumulators, basic pneumatic principles and systems, and much more.

  • Basic Workforce Safety: Identify safety issues in the workplace. Topics covered: Blood borne Pathogens, Electrical Safety, Fire Protection, Fall Protection, Space Hazards, Hazard Communication, Hazardous Materials, Material Handling, Machine Guarding, Work Zones, tag in and out procedures and more.
    • Total Hours: 16 at Tolles RAMTEC


  • Basic Industrial math: This course is a refresher course for math used in every industrial maintenance.Topics covered; Unit conversions, Fractions to decimals, Fraction Math, Averages, Percentages, and use of common industrial equations.

  • Basic Manual Machining: This course introduces you to the basic principles of manual machining.  This course will include general machine safety, machining terminology, and the basics of manual turning, grinding, drilling and milling.

  • Basic Manufacturing Maintenance Principles: This course introduces Basic tool applications, Standard fasteners, Shafts and bearings, Couplings, Gears, Drives, Seals, Motors, brakes & clutches, Machine disassembly and re-assembly.

  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD &T): Basic Print Reading: Students learn how to navigate, comprehend, and interpret different types of engineering drawings. Learn standard symbols and abbreviations, on blueprints schematics, and wiring diagrams. Students will learn to read dimensions to identify the height, width, and length dimensions of a drawing features, and interpret drawing details. Dimensional and geometric tolerances on production prints for inspection and assuring proper part functionality.
    • Total Hours: 32 at Tolles RAMTEC


  • Basic Welding: Learn the basic techniques of shielded metal arc welding (stick), MIG & TIG, as well as burning and cutting techniques from an AWS certified welder. Class is mostly a hands-on experience.
    Students must supply their own welding helmet, gloves, leather boots, safety glasses, chipper hammer, 10” vice grips, and a stainless steel wire brush.

    • Cost: $350/per class, plus estimated supply costs of $73.

Other Classes Offered

  • Advanced Welding: After completion of the Basic Welding course, principles and applications will be expanded in this advanced course. It provides training on mild steel with single and multipass welds. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. This course will help prepare you for the AWS D1.1 Structural Weld Certification* (which is internationally recognized) offered through Hobart. This course is also taught by an AWS certified Welder.
    Students must supply their own welding helmet, gloves, leather boots, safety glasses, chipper hammer, 10” vice grips, and a stainless steel wire brush.

    • *As of April 2016, the cost of the Hobart test is $350
    • Cost: $650/per class, plus estimated supply costs of $73.
    • Total Hours: 60 at Tolles RAMTEC

  • Automotive Maintenance Course: Topics covered in this class include engine inspection, common fastener and thread repairs, thermostat inspection, coolant inspection, transmission fluid level and condition, and so much more.
    • Cost: $150 per person
    • Total Hours: 30 at Tolles RAMTEC
  • Auto Collision Repair I and II: This course will demonstrate and train students in matters of safety for the worker in the workspace and proper hazardous material removal. Students will learn through demonstration and hands-on activities how to use the basic tools and processes of an auto collision workshop. The training will include various tools of the trade, different types of welding, dent removal and panel repair, paint preparation, paint gun operation, and primer application, and more.
    • Hours: 8 week course, 2 days per week for 3 hours per class (total of 48 hours)
    • Cost: $375/per class plus $75 for materials. (Additional material costs may occur depending on students’ choice of doing own projects.)
  • Automotive Restoration: Join this fun class if you are interested in oldies, classics, hot rods, hammer, welding, and metal working. Taught by a Honda R & D employee.
      • Cost: $400, plus $75 for materials (could be more if you bring your own project)

FANUC Robotics

FANUC America Corporation provides industry-leading robotics, CNC systems, and factory automation. FANUC’s innovative technologies and proven expertise help manufacturers in the Americas maximize efficiency, reliability and profitability. Through a unique partnership with FANUC, RAMTEC offers both CNC certification and robotics certification.

Our FANUC training is state-of-the-art. Candidates will learn the skills that industry demands from FANUC certified instructors using a FANUC approved curriculum on genuine FANUC equipment. Trainees will also learn basic operations and programming as well as troubleshooting and maintenance.


Motoman Robotics

Founded in 1989, Yaskawa Motoman is a leading robotics company in the Americas. With more than 300,000 Motoman robots, 10 million servos and 18 million inverter drives installed globally, Yaskawa provides automation products and solutions for virtually every industry and robotic application; including arc welding, assembly, coating, dispensing, material handling, material cutting, material removal, packaging, palletizing and spot welding.

RAMTEC has partnered with Yaskawa Motoman Robotics to offer onsite certification training. Students will receive the same training at RAMTEC as they would at Motoman Robotics and walk away with the same certification. Students will learn operation and programming and how it applies to Material Handling applications.

High School Programs

Students interested in robotics, engineering, or advanced manufacturing have a great future ahead of them with unlimited possibilities. Tolles gives area high school students the best opportunity available to gain a lift by enrolling in either our Engineering & Manufacturing or Welding & Fabrication programs.

Student will have the opportunity to study in the renovated, state-of-the art RAMTEC Center and work with 3D printers, FANUC carts, VEX Robotics, Yakasawa Motoman STEM carts, STEM welding carts, and FANUC robotics.

Early Exploration

Tolles has created advanced pathways for students at Jonathan Alder in Engineering & Manufacturing by offering programs at Jonathan Alder Junior High School and High School. Both programs give students chances to learn about robotics and STEM careers, and they will be highly prepared if they choose to advance to Tolles in one of our junior/senior programs.
