Dear Tolles Students and Families:
As your Superintendent, I understand how difficult this spring has been when the senior experience you have thought about for years hasn’t turned out as planned. This is a difficult time for so many and we have not overlooked or forgotten what the senior year and all of its milestones mean to you. As we look forward and explore alternative plans to celebrate your certification, these are the things we know with certainty. We will coordinate a virtual certification ceremony on May 27 at 7pm as planned. Your transcripts will be sent to colleges, the military, and employers. This crisis will not impede the next steps in life’s journey. We know a virtual ceremony is not traditional, but it is a start. Secondly, as soon as it is safe and permissible, we will make plans to celebrate the Class of 2020.
When we can safely gather in larger groups, either inside or outside, we will explore the opportunity for a more traditional certification ceremony and a senior celebration. I wish we could provide a date, but there are just too many unknowns to make plans. We don’t know when it will be safe for hundreds of us to be together. We don’t want to commit to an event that may not be safe. We don’t want to raise hopes when so much is still uncertain.
Having said that, we will continue to keep you updated on decisions and we will continue to listen to your input. We would love to hear from you. What is most important to you during your senior year that hasn’t happened but you wish could? What creative ideas do you have? We are 100% in this to Lift All Students, and seniors, that means you!
