New Cell Phone Policy at Tolles Career & Technical Center
Effective: Wednesday, August 20, 2025
In compliance with Ohio House Bill 96
To support student focus, safety, and well-being, and to align with new state legislation, Tolles is implementing a building-wide cell phone policy beginning the first day of school.
What’s Changing?
No cell phone access during instructional time, including:
Academic classes/
Career-technical classes/
Lab sessions
Intervention/LRC periods/Study hall
Transition times between classes
Locker rooms
Restrooms
Phones must be turned off and stored in the locker or backpack.
Exceptions will be made only for:
Documented medical needs
Disability accommodations (as required by law)
This policy reflects Ohio House Bill 96, which requires all Ohio schools to enforce phone restrictions by January 1, 2026. By implementing this early, we aim to create a focused, professional, and distraction-free learning environment from day one.
We understand that families may need to contact students during the school day. Here’s how:
For non-urgent matters:
Email your student using their school email address. This promotes professional communication habits aligned with workplace expectations. For urgent or time-sensitive issues:
Call the Tolles Main Office, and we will promptly deliver your message to your student.
